16 Up Mold Part Transfer System
This sophisticated robot tooling, used to transfer parts amongst 3 plastic presses, picks parts (skeletons) from one primary mold 16 up, transfers them to a completely different press which overmolds one color onto the skeleton part, and then removes that two level molded parts from the second press and transfers and inserts them into a third press which applies a second level and color of overmold to complete the product. Just this single piece of automation speeds the process, improves quality and consistency, and maximizes throughput to the maximum that can be achieved from the slowest press in the process chain. By eliminating two levels of material handling, production per hour is increased, multiple systems can be managed by one operator or technician, and multi-shift operation is possible with small incremental cost.
