Precision Multipoint Vision Inspection
In some cases, speed is not the critical factor, especially when the overmold press has a 30 second or so cycle time. However, short shots in the overmold material are critical to product quality. In this case, a hard black plastic base is overmolded with black neoprene to form the final product. With special lighting, each part is checked in 6 critical places to be sure the quality is perfect. Of the 4 parts inspected at one time, each is accepted or rejected individually to be reduce waste and to record issues that may be associated with the particular mold cavity involved. While not particular fast, the precision of this vision inspection discerning black on black material shapes is highly precise and insures reduced product returns from the end customer.
